I have had my EVO for about two months. I have read the forums and have a general understanding as to how the phone works. Still I have some questions. Instead of grouping them all in on e post I will ask separately so things don't become cluttered.
I am using an unrooted phone and using Vista Home Premium on my PC. I started off using the stock player but since purchased Poweramp.
I want to be able to copy playlists to the phone. I thought this process would be easy but I've run into problems.
1-I tried to sync WMP but it does not recognize the phone. I have searched the posts here and on the web. Some people have done this most haven't. Is it possible to do this? IS there something special you have to do to get WMP to recognize the phone?
2-Adventures with Winamp
Since I am not able to use WMP, I tried using Winamp. Winamp did recognize the phone. I was able to copy some playlists and thought everything was good untill I tried to play them on the phone. Some were okay, while others didn't sync all the songs or playlist did not show up under playlist.
After examining the problems, I threw my hands up and decided to load my playlists almost manually. Winamp has a feature that will copy any songs in the playlist editor and put them in their own folder in the order they are in the playlist. I did this and made a .m3u file. I manually dragged the folder into the Music directory on the phone.
This worked 3/4 of the times. There were times when the .3mu file "disappeared" and was not on the phone. I was surprised by this. I would have to drag it over again for it to take. I havr no idea why this happens, all I can think of is a compatibility issue between Windows and Android.
So my questions are:
1-Why does my .3mu file disappear?
2-Has successfully synced with Winamp and can explain the steps.
This is the biggest problem I am having with EVO so far. I rarely listen to whole albums and have a lot of playlists which is why this is an issue. It's funny because after reading all the battery issues I didn't think I would use the player for fear of battery drain but after following all the steps needed to impede this I can use the player and the battery does not drain too badly.
Thanks in advance for any help.
