Newbie question about app updates

I presently have an iPhone and I am considering getting a Galaxy S2 shortly.

With the iPhone, I get notified of app updates when I load up iTunes, I see a figure (6 for example) beside the app section down the left handside of iTunes.

I was wondering, how I would be notified of app updates for apps I would have installed on my Galaxy S2?

You have an option to automatically update every app you download from the market. You can also update manually everytime you connect to the market. It'll show that you have updates on your notification bar.
