Root Newbie questions!

Hi everyone, thanks for any questions you can answer.

First and foremost, I have been looking around, and it SEEMS like the whole efuse thing doesn't worry anyone. Is that because the potential to do real harm to your phone is a minimal risk (analogous to overclocking your cpu on a computer). Is that a correct assumption?

Second, I am seeing a lot of shorthand and slang that I obviously don't understand. If you have any ones that you think that I should know off the bat, that would be very helpful!

I will get to the actual rooting (if I get to that point) in a different post, just want to get familiar!

Thanks all!

Great guides! I do feel like i know a bit more now.

Though I am feeling like a little conflicting info. You said that there is VERY real danger of bricking your phone, however in the guide (all-one-guide to rooting...) he gives instructions to unbrick it.

So, how dangerous/likely is it that my phone will be permanently damaged? I am so confused! LOL

Thanks!

We all have the potential to really screw up your phone. But I have found if you can get to your bootloader you can unbrick it. Between the swarm of rims coming out lately I have bricked at least twice. Even had to ghetto charge my battery once so I could sbf. Bit im running apex 1.3 now and its by far the best built rom for the x. If you can think of a way to damage your phone... someone has already gone threw it and posted about it here.

Yes it is un brickable as I have unbricked about 3 times and you will sooner or later as well, just how it is, im just trying to give you the mindset to always be careful and do things properly that's all

*Big sigh of relief*

Ok then, time to get down to business. I'll make another thread with questions I have about doing the root when I get there.

Thanks for calming my fears!
