Hi ALL,

I've had an Android tablet for a few years including a later Sammy model with Kit Kat, so I'm familiar with Kit Kat. But I've never owned a smartphone until now. I've had the Virgin LG Volt for an entire week (!!!) and so far I'm quite pleased with it. The Sprint coverage is a little spotty near my home but when I get nearer to cities and businesses (I live in the Tampa, FL area) its much better. (One time I got an LTE data connection which tested out at about 20 MHz - I was surprised!)

Anyway, as I said I'm pretty familiar with Kit Kat except for its usage as a phone. So I have a few questions. When you receive a call and don't answer it the caller is sent to voice mail and the Volt will chime a tone indicating the missed call. Then when the Volt sees the voice mail it chimes another tone. This all still happens even if the display is off. Then the Home button blinks until you turn the display back on and look at the missed events. My question is there any way to make the Volt continue to send out a chime every few seconds to indicate the missed events while the display is off. I just got a case for the Volt and it covers the front so you can't see the Home button so it would be nice to get a repeating tone to indicate the missed call.

The other question has to do with the contacts. I set up my profile with my home and cell phone numbers but when I want to call my home phone from the Volt within the contacts that option is not available. The only option is to send a message. But for any other contacts the option is to either call or message. Did I set up my profile wrong?

So again I'm pretty satisfied but just have some newbie questions.

Thanks,
Gerry

In response to your first question, I'm not certain this works for phone events, but theoretically it should. Go to Options->Accessibility->PersistentAlerts. Make sure the switch is On, and check the box next to Phone.

PERFECT!!!! Thanks very much. A day or two after I got the phone I went into Settings and went over all of them to see if I needed to change anything. However I didn't go into Accessibility as I didn't think I would need anything from there. This setting really should be in a more general location as I think it would be very useful in many situations. Without it the only indication that you had a missed call if the display is off is the blinking Home button.

So I set it up to repeat every 2 minutes for the phone and messages and it worked perfectly. I didn't want it for e-mail as I get a lot of junk e-mail and I didn't want to get an alert for them. I was just about to install one of the apps that claim to do this but I'm always leery of them and would much rather do it with a function that is native to the system.

Anyway, thanks again.
Gerry
