Root newbie root/cwm question

so i rooted my optimus elite succesfully! thanks to all the faq posters!

i'm stuck however...

newbie here... forgive my ignorance...

i installed the cwm tool on my vm optimus elite and while i can get to the menu it only gives me 4 menu options... the first four...

reboot system now
apply update from sd card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

those are my only menu options.

there is some yellow text bellow telling me that an update failed but i'm not clear on if it was the cwm update or something else...

ultimately i'm trying to install a new rom... i've got root and superuser access and i thought the cwm was the last obstacle and now it's looking like i'm stuck. also trying not to brick this phone. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.
 
You need to open the cwm tool and use it to install cwm. Also are you on the ZV5 update? Depending IG you are there is a file in /system/etc/ called install-recovery.sh that you will need to rename to install-recovery.sh.bak because that file automatically installs stock recovery over cwm when you reboot. So use the tool to install cwm then download s root permissions file manager and look in /system/etc/ for install-recovery.sh and let me know if that helps you!
 
That sounds like the stock recovery, you must have missed a step somewhere. Either that or it's somehow an incomplete installation. I'd try again.

is there a forum or post specific to your rom? not the sticky that has the install instructions etc. but a user's forum or guide... have a few questions but don't want to post them in the wrong place...

Other than the official thread for the ROM, found here, you can feel free to read through it and see if your questions haven't been already addressed. The OP (main/original post) contains plenty of information in and of itself, as well. If you can't find your answers, feel free to either post them in that thread and/or PM me, I will get back to you as soon as possible :)
