Hi Dave and welcome to Android Forums!
We're a small group of Android enthusiasts ( well, a little over a million of us... that's small, right?
) with a common mission: to learn things from one another so we all get better at Android. And we all started at the same place: ZERO KNOWLEDGE.
So never be afraid to ask questions and get clarification here. It's how we all grow
