Help Newbie SIM card question

Lurker
I bought a used One M8 on ebay and I want to use it with H2O wireless. The phone was listed as "HTC ONE M8 6525L ANDROID VERIZON AND UNLOCKED GSM" and the description said it was unlocked for gsm sim worldwide. However, when I put the H2O sim card in and boot up the phone, I'm greeted with a window notification: "Non Verzion SIM: This SIM card is from an unknown source."

I confess I'm really new at this and honestly don't know if this is normal and I'm skipping a step. I feel like the phone should at least recognize the source, though. H2O's website has limited info and I dread calling customer service, so I thought I'd check here first since it might be something simple. From internet searches, I have found that there are people who have used H2O with the One M8. Is my problem because it was originally a Verzion phone?

Thanks for any help!

1) Go to settings->more setting->mobile network->switch it to global
2) Go to app manager->all apps->force stop setup wizard->repeat if notification persists - video
3) If you have root, you can permanently disable the notification by removing the setup wizard app or installing a Google Play Edition rom.

Also you may need to update the APN settings. This appears to be the instructions for it, but getting to the correct area may be outdated: https://www.h2owirelessnow.com/images/pdf/ManualConfigurations011211.pdf

Thanks for the reply. So basically, even after I get it working with H2o, I may have that notification? I just assumed it was implying that I wouldn't get any network function. I did already set the mobile setting to "global". I think it's worth mentioning also that the "GSM UMTS Options" under network settings is grayed out and not selectable; only CDMA options is available to change. Does this mean the phone isn't "worldwide GSM unlocked?"

The phone has actually been giving me wifi problems... the signal strength is fine when I'm in the same room as the router, but as soon as I go into the next room, I get 1 bar and even dropped connections. I also get this when I hold the phone sideways. I've never seen another device/phone with a problem like that in this house. I really like the phone in general, but I may have to return it as a result of the wifi issue.
