Root newbie: whats diff between JT05 n voodoo 5?

Well if you are talking about dj05 and voodoo5.. Dj05 is a leaked update rom and voodoo5 is the newest voodoo kernel

It is only available in irc. .......ask nicely in there.
And since old voodoo is based on di01 it is preferable to ditch it before upgrading (not essential if you flash a stock image or jts 0.6)
New voodoo is also irc only

The dj05 is mostly a gps fix I think there may have been other minors but I'm not positive what they are

Don't you have to Odin dj05, does it play nice with everything else or does it throw up sometimes with FC's.

You have to odin the modem dj05 itself is just flashed like a rom..I've not seen a fc 1 time

You have to Odin the modem file and flash the rom in cwr. There are no issues with the release akaik or read.

j know you Odin a tar file but what is a modem file. I can't figure that one out. Does Odin put jt05 on the phone n that produces a modem file to flash with rom manager?

The modem.bin file updates your baseband. Theres nothing to do with it besides that. Then you flash a dj05 rom that you also got from irc in clockwork recovery
Its not a very complex process

I'm pretty sure on this hopefully nit grabs it if I'm wrong but I think you have to flash dj05 to get the fixes..but you have to have modem for dj05

for DJ05 you need both the modem file for odin and the rom to flash in clockwork...otherwise you dont have it all
dj05modem.tar is the name of the one i have...it may have been renamed at some point...shouldnt matter
its an odin push through the pda button while the phone is in download mode

Okay... I think I'm ready to take the plunge. Let me see if I understand correctly. I want to flash the DJ05 modem.tar package as well as the DJ05.zip both linked in the #redrum_***** channel (is it okay to mention the channel name?) That would upgrade my ROM and my baseband, and I could still install, for instance JT's clean or Stupidfast kernels.
Also... if I DO flash the modem, and the OTA is different, is there ANY way to get back to where I could grab OTAs or restore to factory if I have a problem and need to exchange my handset? I'm under the impression that modem software can not be rolled back. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

we have the DI01 radio package, so yes we can go back if this ota doesnt happen (and theres a minor rumor it might not).
put the phone in d/l mode....flash the modem in odin under pda button
then boot into cwr and flash any dj05 rom. then you can flash any dj05 kernel later if you want...(remember jts 0.6 rom doesnt come with a kernel)
