Root Newbie with a rooting question??

nevermind i just had to fight the force close messages and get back to titanium and unfreeze. geez took like 45 of fighting the force close messages
 
when i froze the Dialer Storage app it made the start up video not play, and start up was really fast. Maybe that app contains the startup video as well
 
I am pretty sure the animation has nothing to do with the dialer, but it is possible they wrote the code so that if the phone accomplishes a full boot before it gets around to the animation; it will just skip it.
 
hey Rafael when I am in browser or sending a text or email, I can click on the mic button and speak and all the speech is converted to text. But when i click on the magnifying glass and it brings up google search bar i can click on the mic thats not on the keyboard, (the one right by the box where you enter text ) and it will listen to me and then will act like it is working and then say force close. Does yours do this as well?
 
That's funny. I don't get a mic button in text or browser, but always get one when I hit the magnifying glass. This is opposite to yours.
 
I know you don't have it in text or email because you use the stock keyboard, so there is no mic to click on to enable it. You may want to use it. I love it for texting and its free!!

My problem is that when I use the magnifying glass. The gray mic will popup and flash white when I am talking. If i tell it to text or email a contact it will.
Problem starts when I try to use the internet with it, it forces closes. Didn't have this problem until today. Cant find out why either. I tried uninstalling voice search and re installing but it didn't work. Also tried to turn off Gingerbread keyboard and nothing so I put it back on. Its weird I haven't changed anything in a couple of days and my problem just started today.

Edit: Nevermind I got it to work it was dolphin HD causing my problem. dont know what is was but just went back to stock for now. I will figure it out another time, very weird though that I didn't have the problem the whole time
 
hey Rafael when your on the browser and go to Google, does your location jumble over the coffee and bars logo?? not a big deal just a little annoying
 
Have you seen the Casio phone that came out in Japan two months after the Commando. It is called the Casio IS11CA. It has a 1Ghz snapdragon processor and it looks like they have removed some of the rubber near the top I assume to improve reception. Compared to a droid X2 my commando always has one less bar. The IS11CA also has a different screen and a 8.1MP camera and is running Gingerbread!! Plus it didn't come with the stupid snap-out menu and Bing. I wonder why they didn't offer the US the same one. Maybe we will get it next summer with LTE. sigh but I still love my phone
 
No I don't believe so. I have mine rooted and bloat free, and it runs great. I don't really see a point in unrooting the phone unless an OTA update comes for this phone. At least that is how I understand it. I'm sure Rafael will chime back soon and give you a definite answer.
 
I wish I knew for sure one way or the other. I do not.

I can tell you that I got and installed updates on my Droid1 while it was rooted.
I did nothing, just let them install. No problems at all.....but they un-rooted it.
Later, after I decided I did not want updates on that phone, I removed tha apps that showed and allowed updates....and they never bothered me again.

The wild card here is that the Casio Commando does not recieve updates like my Droid1; directly from Verizon OTA as we are all used to.
This InnopathActivecare app is some sort of third-party support.
It appears that Casio and/or Verizon farmed out support via this company.
You can do a Google search on them to see what I said is true.
It sounds like all software updates may come directly from them rather than from Verizon proper.

This means we know very little about what the update process is, and for all we know the InnopathActivcare app may even have "phoned-home" and reported our extracurricular activity (Rooting and removing apps).

Anyone know more?

Also new to smart phones was wandering if root and removal of bloatware also gives significant boosts to overall performance? I have already read about increased battery life and shorter boot times, so what's the scoop?

you have to be careful in what apps u force to sd card like your launcher your launcher will load before your sd card is read so that is an app u dont want to put on your sd card i believe some apps forced to sd may load slower not sure thought i read it some where on here

but most of your other apps listed shouldnt have a prob i'd leave titanium backup pro and market on phone in the rare case your sd card fails you can still recover your apps

If anyone knows any of this to be wrong please correct me just getting into rooting and reading alot about it

I read the threads for battery life and "ROOTING". I'm assuming rooting is a way to get access to the phone that you otherwise would not have to remove programs and such. I dont want to become a programmer or cell phone usage wizard. I just want to have desent battery life. Any quick fixes for increasing battery life or do I need to buy another phone? Thanks!

The Mugen battery is a great buy. Look up Mugen batteries and they sell one for the commando
