Newest Dolphin Broswer supports multitouch

Well one thing I like about this browser is that it blocks the amazon ad on the side of this forum, which makes browsing here from the Droid INFINITELY better!!!

It is more buggy than the default browser but it has so much more functionality that I'm going to try to get used to this browser and hopefully it gets better.

Loccy's Better Browser is ALMOST ready for Android 2.0 and our DROID's, he said we will need root to install it though because it isn't a new browser, it actually replaces/modifies the stock browser and add's MT plus a TON of settings and other features. Also, he might need a few beta testers for the DROID, you would be able to get it before anyone else BUT you need to be able to do atleast 10 hours of testing and report back to him with any bugs. PM me if your interested (and willing to root your DROID when it is possible).

The tabs and menu icons are still gross looking and not sharp at all. Otherwise, it's a nice browser and I really haven't experienced any FC or bugs yet. But it's still early days.

is it me or does all the settings not have labels on them? do i have to touch each one to find out what it does?

tabs do look ugly, pinch/zoom is okay, speed is about the same

can't wait for firefox

The multitouch zoom is too imprecise to be useful. Double-tap zooming seems to be gone. Doesn't zoom in for text fields as far as I can tell.

A good start, but not nearly good enough to replace the default browser. Not by a long shot.

+1 No double tap is terrible especially with poor pinch zoom accuracy. Double tap to zoom and then pinch for fine adjustment. This is opposite and is currently a fail. See HTC sense browser for nice double tap and pinch zoom, or of course try an ipod to see s perefect execution...

I'm really enjoying the pinch zoom but still needs work. Now it seems to want to scroll all crazy to the bottom at the end of a pan or pinch/zoom. I had not experienced this before an update. Anyone else getting this?

Wrong....perfect execution it would auto wrap text also like HTC Sense does

Any reason why he doesn't just provide it as a new browser app? What's the benefit of having to root your phone, which no one has done yet, and replace the stock browser?

Has anyone noticed when using dolphin browser (and possibly the default browser I haven't tested it) you can use the volume rocker to scroll up/down on the page? Volume down is down and up is up and by holding either down it scrolls quite fast. Its not perfect but it does work well

Really not sure why, but I still can't get the multitouch zoom to work. I'm sure I have the latest version. Seems really odd.

Yes. But it goes "tunk" after each use, which gets really old really quick.

Anybody know how to make it scrollpage quietly?

I *do* miss pagedowns when they aren't there.

Dolphin is growing on me. Gestures save time. Pinching is fun- there are some useful intermediate zooms that don't seem to happen with the default browser.

And someday the tabs will go hires. I have faith, and turn them off in the meantime since you can bleedin' flip between sessions.

anyone else activate the pinch to zoom or zoom out while just trying to scroll threw a page? and constantly zoom in and zoom out while scrolling

Yes, I get that practically every time I try to flick through a page. Another reason why the Dolphin browser is currently unusable.

I like alot of the functionality on this browser that the stock browser does not have. The tabbed browsing is killer without having to make too many moves one way or the other. I will say this though, the screen clarity is not as good on this browser as it is on the stock browser. It's still very good and light years better than any other phone out there, but it bothers me that some of the images are a bit more pixalated on this browser than the stock browser. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does.

Yes, the "Tunk" when you scroll is annoying and I hope the developers figure out how to turn that off. You can scroll in FBReader, the free e-book reader, with the volume rocker and it is silent so it is possible.
