Help Newly rooted and have a question.

I have just rooted my Samsung Galaxy Indulge from Metro PCS. The first thing I'd like to do after removing bloatware, is change the boot animation. The one I'd like to use is the R2D2 animation from the Droid. No matter what animation I look up, they all refer to finding and renaming, or deleting the original boot animation. I cannot find them anywhere. Has anyone successfully changed their animation? How did you do it?

Thanks

If you have the Basix rom installed, you can install a custom boot animation by simply placing bootanimation.zip (the file you had downloaded - rename if necessary to match the name exactly, because it MUST be bootanimation.zip) in your /system/media/ folder.
And if you have not yet installed Basix or Exodus, maybe it's time you try them out ;)
Personally, I stick with Basix.

That's what I find so confusing. I keep hearing mention of /system/media/. I don't have a /system/media/. There is no bootanimation.zip file that I can find anywhere. I have an animation when I turn on my Indulge. How come I can't find the directory anywhere?

here is a pic of the directory

Ok I found the folder. I was looking in the SD card by mistake. The only problem is that I don't see a bootanimation.zip still. I see a couple of files that are some sort of bootsamsungloop.qmg files or something like that. Are these files ones that can be replaced with a bootanimation.zip?

Also when I try to rename files like PowerOn.wav so I can replace them with a new wav file, I get a "Sorry, operation failed" message. I am rooted and I am using the Mount System R/W mode.

Ok I was able to rename the sounds. Got that part taken care of. I still cannot change my animation, because my Samsung uses bootsamsung.qmg instead of bootanimation.zip. Has anyone else had any luck changing their animation?

You need a proper kernel to do this. At the moment only Basix includes this.
