Root Newly Rooted OG Droid frk76 performance increase ?'s

Lurker
I just recently rooted my OG Droid using a guide I found on here (not sure where I found it now) but did it myself using ADB. I also installed ROMmanager and have clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.1 (was trying to get SPRecovery 0.99.3b but kept failing). Correct me if Im wrong but from what I get Recoveries and ROMs are 2 different things? Basically what Im wanting to do is increase the performance of this phone. I have installed Milestone overclock and have it set at 1ghz Ive noticed a bit of difference in performance but not what Im looking for am new to all this and not sure where to start so any help increasing the performance of this phone would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Sorry your reply is late in coming, most folks have moved on from the A855, I only check in here every few days.

Anyways, yes recovery and rom are two different things. A custom recovery allows you to create and restore nandroid backups (which are basically like a snapshot of your device at the time) and to flash custom roms, themes, and kernels. Always create a backup before flashing anything.

Milestone overclock will not work with the stock kernel (in fact you need a custom kernel to overclock at all), you need the stock one from a Cyanogenmod rom or one made by prime over a droidforums.net as those are the only ones compatible with Milestone overclock. I _think_ you still need SetCPU as well, I always use it anyways.

good luck

yeah Ive done away with Milestone and stock rom/kernel lol. and yes I plan on leaving the A855 behind as well but don't have the means to atm but it was giving to me for free so figured might as well use it and enjoy it lol. Am currently running Simply Stunning 5.6 with this roms stock kernel with SetCPU even though doesnt really look like I need it from the extra settings but owell lol.

As far as your launcher issues with SS 5.6, I use ADW so I don't know if what I do would help you; besides every phone is as different as every person. But I found that using the CPU settings in the extra settings wouldn't stick after a reboot, so I use SetCPU to control CPU speed.

And actually, so far my A855 isn't broke and every thing still functions on it so unless the i515 (Gnex) comes down to $99 or better Motorola releases another phone without an encrypted bootloader (that I can afford, lol), I'm staying.

Look for the Project Elite 4.2 ROM. It is old but i have been using it on my Droid1 for a long time and it still amazes me that it keeps up with the newer models. All of the overcloking is done through the rom under elite options. Always make a back up
