Root Next Steps

Completed SBF but I have no idea how to wipe data and cache without root. Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can get the rooted GB on here?

Thanks!

Hold down the power button and the home button with the phone off. Once the triangle appears on the screen hit the search button...

OK, another dummy question... and thanks for the info Big Cat. I have the file on the SDCard and ready to go. Do I select "update.zip" in recovery? What if the file isn't called update.zip. Does that matter?

You are going to want to root .340 first and then install bootstrap. Once you've done that then install it the same way you would any other zip. Just make sure you wipe data and cache one more time just to be safe...

Ahh... didn't see anything about rooting .340 in the instructions. Thanks again... hopefully I'll have it up and running in no time.

you have to do so to get into bootstrap recovery to flash....but like he said make sure to wipe data/cache just to be safe:cool:

Yep... stuck on a red Motorola logo. Pulled the battery to try again and nothing. Not sure what to do from here. I rooted the fresh .340. Wiped cache and data, rebooted with D2 Bootstrap and now I'm stuck.

And this sucks... sucks big time.

Hold down the power button and the home button again till the triangle pops up. Delete data and cache again and then reboot...

I think the issue may be that you used D2 Bootstrap... That will only work with GB. With .340 you can use the DX Bootstrap... Once you have loaded GB then the only one that will work with it will be the D2 Bootstrap..

OK, I am obviously doing something wrong. I'm crapped out on the red Motorola logo again. I'm stumped.

I am unsure what else it would be. I guess you can look at the zip and make sure you didn't get a partial download but other than that I don't know what else the issue would be....

Is the SBF you are using the full 3.340 sbf or the system only sbf?

Once you install gbdxrooted.zip are you wiping data/cache before reboot (you should be)

That's probably the step I'm missing. I'm applying the SBF again now. I'm doing the FULL SBF. I'm going to wipe data / cache each time around this time. I'm sure it's user error on my part. I'm trying to do a 100 things at once and I'm not paying enough attention. At least I'm getting a crash course in the SBF process. I've never done it before and I've already done it 3 times in the past 30 minutes! Boy do I stink.

It's the only way to learn. We have all taken our lumps, lol.... You learn alot more about your phone the more you mess it up, lol... I have been there a ton, trust me...:D

Oh yeah, I'm learning alright. I hope GB is worth it. This has been rough... though it's all on me for not doing it right.

No love... followed all those steps exactly and I still get stuck on the red motorola logo. Not to mention, my battery is about shot. Good times.
