Seems like it's because there's two copies (one on /system and another on /data)

So you gotta:

delete Maps.apk from /system/app/
delete com.app.google.maps (or something like that) from /data/app/
go into settings, applications, filter, all - find maps and 'uninstall'

Then reinstall from the market.

Whats the best way to delete them fab. For some reason it not letting me delete them. Saying error. Tried doing it in astro.

Very nice rom! This is the first time that I've used the NexTheme, and I have to say that I love the look of it. Very nice job Fab!

The easiest way is to use Root Explorer, set it to RW (read/write) and then deleting the files is no problem.

If you want to use adb commands...
abd shell rm filepath/filename

i put the update.zip on my sdcard and then go to my recovery and allow update that install it. i get stuck in the boot loop. any idea why?

Ok edit. I removed the system/app maps. Then reinstalled and now it is working. So lol got that fixed for now.

no im currently running a very unstable smoked glass 4.5 lol force close almost every time i do anything.

No need to use the .sbf if you're already rooted and have SPRecovery.

toker11, I suggest wiping DATA, CACHE, and SYSTEM using adb in SPRecovery.

If you don't know how to do that, at the very least, do a factory reset.

Fab,

I am going to try this tonight, hopefully. Current cyanogen/koush 5.0.5.4 seems to use the battery a bit faster. Will you be doing a Bugless 1.0 NextBeast?

Is it bad to use the sbf? I mean thats what i used to get back from manual 2.1. Or is it only for times like that.

Most likely!

Yeah, it's an absolute last resort. Those who did the OTA 2.1 had to use the .sbf to regain root access. But if you already have it and a ROM messes up, you're always safe just using SPRecovery to flash another one or a backup.

Yo Fab, my Google Maps seems to be messed up... like if i tried to "get directions" it would load then force close on me but if i used the "navagate" beta it would work fine. any ideas?

fab, i did a factory reset and wiped data and cache. whats adb? and when i downloaded the nandroid backup to try it that way it didnt work either. failed with status 25 or something like that. it didnt look like a folder on my desktop so i didnt think it would work. i even took the .rar off the end but that didnt work either. i was just pullin stuff out my a@% when i tried that....what gives. i wanna try ur work man!

To get the nandroid to work, you need to extract the folder from the .rar file. use winrar

Go back to page 2 of this thread. There's an explanation on how to fix it there. I suggest getting root explorer from the market as it works the easiest for this fix. If you still need help let mek now.

Edit: It's actually on this page just some posts up by Fab.

ok i extracted to the file, then put it in my nandroid file. still "exited with status 25" wtf!?

Did you create a subdirectory in the nandroid folder and put the extracted files in that subdirectory? There should be just 2 levels of directories -
Nandroid/yourbackup/ then the extracted files.
