Help Nexus 10 stuck in bootloop

Hi there, I'm hoping someone can offer an idea. Our Nexus 10 took a very brief partial dip in the hot tub, had a little moisture behind the cover plate on the back but couldn't find any other moisture. It was working for a few minutes and then shut off and has been trying to restart since. It vibrates, gets to the Google screen and starts over every 10 or 15 seconds. If I hold down the power and volume down button I get to the boot screen (note at bottom says "Do not turn off target" and am unable to select or change anything on that screen before it starts over again and ends up back at the boot screen. I've also tried plugging it into my laptop to see if the connection might break the cycle and have disconnected the battery when not trying to figure it out. The Nexus slept overnight without the back cover in a gallon ziploc bag with some rice. Note - I have an old Nexus 10 that stopped working and could use parts from it if necessary. Thanks!

you should have did the rice thing before turning it on. moisture and electricity are not your friend. if your pc can recognize the phone you might be able to go to sammobile and download a firmaware for it and see if you can flash it. you will need to download odin. instructions will be on the download page of sammobile.

if that does not work....you might be sol

Update - After drying overnight I tried again holding all three buttons down as I connected the battery and the Nexus booted up. It took a little while to run through "optimizing apps" but it's working fine now. Screen rotation is locked even if I change the setting but otherwise seems fine. Thanks!

maybe try a factory reset to see if that will unlock the screen rotation.

It's working now but there's no guarantee that it will keep working. I would back up anything important while you have the device running, just in case it wigs out again.

Hi group, the Nexus is working fine now with one exception - the screen will no longer tilt. If I start an app that only runs in portrait it will change to portrait and stay that way. Same goes for landscape. The gyroscope/accelerometer is not giving a reading and seems to not be functioning (I downloaded a couple of apps to test sensors). Tilt based games do not work. I tried a factory reset which wiped everything and I started over and still not tilt. Any suggestions?

You can try searching for a firmware update that you can flash. If that does not work, then it's not a software issue, but rather a hardware issue.
