Nexus 4 builds

This is a global GSM phone. There are 2 models, an 8GB and a 16GB. That's the only difference. It's a pure Google phone and will be the first to receive any updates. One phone fits any GSM service provided.

thats what we thought with the galaxy nexus, until it was time for updates,, some where updated by google( which was fast and efficient ) then there was a build that was updated by samsung ( which was slow and delayed )...

The Galaxy Nexus was not a true Nexus in the sense that you got it from Google. That was distributed as carrier versions, including CDMA versions. It was only later, and I suspect in part because the experiment of having carriers handle a Nexus failed, that Google went back to selling a true unlocked GSM version on Google play.

This Nexus 4 you are getting direct from Google and it should be updated in the same manner the Nexus One was. I think even the T-Mobile contract Nexus 4 is Google, just like the T-Mobile contract Nexus One.

Yes, I don't have inside information so I am speculating, but it fits what we know.

and we know that the Google Play Store Nexus 4 supports t-mobile hspa+42 and is the same exact one that t-mobile is selling? I just want to double check.

What we know is the one sold on Google Play has this:

Network
Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
HSPA+ 42

I would guess that the T-Mobile contract one is the same unit, just as the T-Mobile contract Nexus one was, but honestly I don't know or care since I will never have a contract for any phone. ;)
