Nexus 4 Full body Protector

edge

Android Enthusiast
I haven't decided if I want the Nexus yet. I would really like to get a Sprint one but have read that there won't be a Sprint one this year. Either way, with the glass on the front and the back you should use a skin on the glass. I'm using these skins right now and they are top notch. They already have a pre order here

Since the glass is curved on these you need to use a wet type skin, or a lot of the glass will be exposed. I like how the edge appears to be rubber which to me means it won't break easy if it gets dropped. I really want to see some drop tests before buying. Whatever happened to the phones that were super durable? I had an old Nokia back in the day that took a beating.

Google said they're never doing a CDMA Nexus 4 after bad customer experiences last time. Whether that's true remains to be seen.
Thanks for the link, doesn't appear to be available in the UK though.
The glass is not curved on the N4 like previous iterations of Nexus phones.
Drop tests are super unreliable. If you want tech specs for toughness look on Corning's website they might have some.

Super durable phones died out when the touch screens came in. Maybe one day Corning or a competitor will come up with super touch glass for us. Until then, we're stuck with screens to be smashed

Can you provide a link? Not trying to troll, I've searched online and couldn't find that anywhere. Thanks.

Yeah sure, I remembered it slightly wrong, but read the article and it talks about CDMA networks being locked in, meaning no direct ota updates from Google.
Comes from the Verge
Google wants users to get updates from it and it still has problems with CDMA Galaxy Nexus device updates

The glass on the edges are a little curved so it feels natural and smooth when you swipe on the screen. I would rather have a screen protector that stops just shy of the edges because glass like that doesn't work to well with screen protectors. If it's wet install it might do the trick like the original post said. If it's dry and goes all the way to the edges, then you can expect some never ending air bubbling because it won't stay down on the very edges since the edges are curved a little on the sides. I've experienced that from the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus.

The glass is actually curved on the N4. Just not the same way like the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. N4 has gentle curves on the sides to give natural feeling when using it swiping. Where as the older Nexii's had the curve at the top and bottom of the phone which made it seem like the entire phone was slightly curved.

I don't see that those skins will provide much protection against glass breakage but they may help with finger prints and scratches but I think they are too thin to give any padding.

Oh yeah! Forgot about that.

Does it curve downwards at the edges or the other way round?

I have never broken my glass with a wet skin installed... Maybe I am lucky. Any idea when stores will get them?

They have a Cyber Monday code for 55% off use the code cybermondayftw at checkout. Just got their carbon fiber for it.

Just got my skinomi full body skin( front back and sides). It fits perfectly. Easy to put on. It curves with the screen from edge to edge.

Has anybody seen those aluminum cases for iphones? Basically its a big arse Zippo case but with the top part not haveing the latch,..I'd like one of those maybe even put felt on the inside so its not bare aluminum

Coupon code 40mdoff2012 saved me 40% today on the above item, and I paid through Google to make sure everything is working for the Nexus 4 purchase in a few days. :)

I have just the XO screen protector on right now--the regular one, not case fit. The fit is really nice around the curved glass and it extends edge-to-edge in all directions with virtually no gaps. The clarity is great and there are cutouts for the front-facing camera and sensors. I didn't get body armor since I've been holding off for the bumper case, but I might just have to get something else instead.

I ended up getting the Full body. Was just the front and the back, but it did cover edge to edge and around the curve. Also they announced another code xo12snow for 40% off. I'm just using the skins and no case since the edge of the nexus 4 is soft. I'll try and throw up some pics tonight

I have the XOskins "full-case" protector, and was somewhat disappointed to find that it was only a front and back skin on the Nexus 4. I did a thorough cleaning and careful installation of the skins however, and was pleased with the result.

Today, with the installation of the bumper case, it's especially nice. The phone feels more secure in my hand, and it's much easier to tell which end is which.

I always use a case and skins. I drop my phone a lot (usually on my face while laying in bed) Or my kids pitch it. I didn't want a case on this phone, but ended up with one after the first said throw

I've never tried XO skins, but it seems a bit over priced for the price of $22. I got one off Amazon for about $16 shipped. I believe the brand was called ArmorSuit? It did what it was supposed to, which was protect my device!
