Nexus 4 has LTE?!?!

You can enable to it work on the aws band by typing *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer and selecting lte in options. Pointless right now, but maybe useful on T-Mobile someday.

Don't know the specifics, but the fella in the video said it would work with AT&T bands.
Anyone try it out yet?

I tried what the guy in the first video did and it did not work.
The second video, the gut said that he created an apn or whatever. Not sure what or how to do that so no luck.
I'm with Bell.
If anyone with Bell figures it out, please post.

Thanks

From what I understand the different carriers all use different bands and frequencies for LTE. That being said the type of LTE that's compatible with this phone is the type that T-Mobile is going to start building out in 2013.

So... Those who have this phone on T-Mobile may be able to access their LTE network when it comes online next year. AT&T's LTE network is less likely. In other words, there's hope!

I always knew they would find a way to hack the shyt out of the 4G LTE chip inside the Nexus 4. But like always, there has to be people with negative comments to shoot something down even before anything is tried. Glad at the XDA folks!

From what I understand the different carriers all use different bands and frequencies for LTE. ...

It seems to be localized by continent ... from Wikipedia 4G-LTE: "The LTE standard can be used with many different frequency bands. In North America, 700/800 and 1700/1900 MHz are used; 2500 MHz in South America; 800, 900, 1800, 2600 MHz in Europe; 1800 and 2600 MHz in Asia; and 1800 MHz in Australia."

Of course the Google page states :
Network
Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
HSPA+ 42

So there's hope that the 1700/1900 will be the ticket here. The service plan I'll be using when the back-ordered N4 arrives utilizes both AT&T and T-Mobile, so I'm eager to see if the LTE can actually work during the course of my travels, if indeed the phone is capable of it as the videos attest.

Swapped SIM cards and it worked. Crazy fast...
The bottom 4 speed test are on HSPA. The top one was right after i switched it over.

It's on band 4 people, a frequency which will be supported by T-Mobile when they roll out LTE (coincidence?) Reason #9065 to get this phone on T-Mobile
