I have a Nexus 4, and was just able to download the update for android kitkat. The update downloaded, and when i restarted the phone to install, there was an error. The phone then restarted and now seems to be runnung normally on 4.3, and it says there is no update available. Please help me figure out what's going on and how i can get kitkat!!

Sounds like you have something that isn't stock. The Rom, Kernel, bootloader, and recovery all need to be stock to take the OTA.

Most OTA's download to /cache, which, unless you are rooted probably won't be viewable by a non-rooted user.

If you've not changed anything like Unforgiven spoke of above, it's likely you had a bad download like Ted indicated. I think the OTA install process should remove the OTA's .zip file after an installation attempt (that's why you'll see it re-downloading after a failed attempt).

I'd let the device try to acquire and download the OTA normally and see if it happens again (don't force the System Update by clearing the Google Services Framework (see Don't clear framework data to force Android 4.4 KitKat update, advises Google engineer for info. re. that).
