Nexus 4 Wifi Hotspot

First off, this is my first Android device so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.

I installer power toggles because I was used to SBSettings on my iPhone. I noticed there was a wifi hotspot toggle. I tried tapping it and right away I had a perfectly usable wifi hotspot that works perfectly with my iPad. I am currently grandfathered into an unlimited data plan on AT&T.

My question is this: Is AT&T going to get pissed? Pissed in the sense that they will automatically start charging me for a wifi hotspot? Will they automatically change my data plan to a limited one? Will they ever find out that I am doing this? If so, is there a way to hide it (preferably without rooting)?

there's more ppl that know more about this then me but from what i know they can't really see this other than your data usage going way up i believe theres a way to hide it i read it somewhere lol

Thanks guys! Hopefully those people in that thread you posted to are correct. If so then that answered my question perfectly!

Keep in mind that it's generally about not getting noticed. Some people report (with tethering on other phones) that they get a text right away, other go on for months with nothing.

I've used my N1 for tethering, but generally only for my tablet. A laptop (using Windows) makes very different calls that the carrier may notice (microsoft.com for instance). PC traffic is very different from the data traffic from the phone (or an Android tablet). Ignoring the argument about "It's my data, I should be able to do what I want with it", certain types of data traffic are more likely to go unnoticed than others. Worst case you'll get noticed and either have to sign up for a tethering plan, or stop tethering.

If they (AT&T) really piss you off (who cares if you piss them off, it's AT&T) you could always port to T-Mobile.
