Help Nexus 4 wont make calls...

Just replaced my N4 with another N4 .. the first one had been a work horse but was wearing out with a few issues.... Replaced with another new one ... The old one ran on 5.01 the new one runs on 4.4.4 Wifi is working great.. I set up my APN same as before... The phone wont make calls.... Double triple checked my APN....Turned off the WIFI . No calls.... Need some help.. I'm on straight talk...
 
It should update to 5.0.1 - not that it has anything to do with the ability to make calls, it doesn't. Neither should the APN, that's data network setup.

Can you send an ordinary, plain text message with no photos or emoji icons? Those go via the cellphone network same as a call.
 
I turned the wifi off and sent a plain text message.... I've downloaded several apps without wifi.. no problems.....
 
Unless Straight Talk is having some kinda problem, the phone could be defective.

But before giving up on it and returning it, have you done a simple reboot? Have you done a factory reset?
 
I have just done a hard boot.... Still nothing... I have added too much stuff to do a factory reset... The only factory reset I will do is on the way to the mail box when I send it back.....My old phone is working OK with ST... so I don't think there is anything wrong with the carrier....
 
Just did a factory reset... No luck.... Thinks the phone is defective...... Will call the seller 2morow either for a refund or replacement....

I am having the same problems. I answer the phone and I can't hear person at the other end and they can't hear me either! How do you do a factory reset and does it erase data (txt/whatsapp messages) from the phone? I have had my N4 since new...it is also randomly powering off as well after the 5.0.1 update

I am having the same issues on both of my Nexus 4s as well. Reboots seem to make no difference. I am on Straight Talk and both phones are 5.0.1
