Nexus 5 production stopped

It's a shame ... I would love to see Google offer a flagship and a midline Nexus.

Yeah, although it still feels like a relatively new handset tbh (to me anyway).

Do they normally stop production of last years devices after a year? I seem to remember the N4 & 2012 N7's being on sale for ages.

The N4's were gone shortly after the N5's came out, at least from the play store. The N7s stuck around because they made a lot of them and they weren't flying off the shelves. If I remember correctly the GPE devices knocked the N4 off the store pages.

This kinda sucks. I just can't deal with the mondo size of the Nexus 6 and would rather not deal with the mondo price. I guess if anything happens to my N4 or my wife's N5 it will be time to find a used N5 or maybe go for a Moto X. It's not a Nexus, but close enough given the available choices. I would rather put money into a new Moto than risk it on a used phone.

We've a mandatory 2 year warranty on all electrical items over here so I'm guessing if you've just bought and need it replaced/repaired 20 months down the line, it would be a refurb or cash.

Unless they come down a bit on size and price with their next phone offerings, then my N5 will be my last Nexus phone.

Not going to worry about it for now, I'll probably be fine using it for the next several years.

If and when they run out of N5s it will be a sad day, as it is an excellent phone.

I, and many other people, don't want a 6" phone; the screen size is quite adequate as is and the phone fits in my pocket.

If, as was suggested, this is because Google's contract with LG is at an end, perhaps it would be possible to create another 5" phone as similar to the N5 as possible and at an equally competitive price. If they do, the one thing I'd like is a bigger battery and I'd be quite happy for the phone to be a mm or two thicker to accommodate it.
