Root Nexus 7 2013 Bootloop help

Hello, everyone.

Yesterday I decided to buy a Nexus 7, and me being an idiot, the first thing I decided to do was root it. I tried rooting it last night and I got stuck in the bootloop.

It's a Nexus 7 4.4.2 I got it from Verizon. Basically, I really know nothing about tablets, and I know I'm dumb for jumping right into trying to root it without any knowledge. Would anyone on here be able to help me unbrick it? If I'm missing some key info that you need, just ask and I'll do my best to provide it.

I've already tried NRT, and I can't seem to get it to fully run through the CMD that pops up during the 'Flash Stock + Unroot' phase whatsoever.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In NRT make sure you followed the driver install guide properly. If running XP make sure you reboot after installing NRTs suggested driver.

Make sure you are selecting the proper device in NRT under the Flash Stock and unroot dialouge. Setting the wrong device will cause errors. The N7 V2 has the camera on the back. Make sure you are using the softbrick option under flash stock and unroot.

Make sure you are using a good quality cable and the tablet is plugged directly into the computer, do not use a USB hub or extension.

Try a different cable and different USB port on the computer.

Make sure there are no other android devices plugged into the computer at the same time.

Is there an error messege and/or can you tell us the exact point it fails?

Hey, thank you for the reply.

I was at my aunts house all day yesterday, and her computer is absolutely terrible, and I was doing everything in NRT correctly, it just didn't want to work with their computer. I cam home this morning and did exactly what I was doing over there on my computer and it worked flawlessly. Thank you for the reply though! I appreciate the help, man!

Glad it worked out!

The N7 line of devices can be very fickle with cheap cables, loose USB ports and similar when doing operations like flashing data.

In my personal opinion, its almost impossible to hard brick or permanently damage a nexus 7 due to the tools available. Try using Wugfresh's Nexus Root Tool kit. Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.2 | WugFresh In any case that utility can allow you to flash your Nexus 7 back to life and its an easy tool to use in regards to rooting.

Awesome sauce folks, thanks for getting this guy up and running!! :)

I moved this thread over to the Root forum since it's root related. Any questions drop me a line anytime! :)
