Help Nexus 7 2013 can't connect to camera

i've had my nexus 7 for about three months and have loved it. until recently, that is. i was traveling last week and tried a video gchat for the first time on it, and my girlfriend was unable to see or hear me despite the fact i was able to see and hear her. i put it aside and forgot about it, until just now i decided to play with the camera to see if that was the problem. every time i click the camera icon it pauses about 4 seconds and i get a pop up that says, "can't connect to camera". before this i haven't tried using the camera on my tablet, and i assume this is the same reason i was unable to video chat. has anybody else experienced a similar problem, and/or does anyone know if there is a solution? thanks!

Yes we are all having problems with the camera. I think that's the reason for the new update coming soon.

Huh? This is the first I've heard of a camera issue? Mine works fine.

Mine works fine too. When is an update coming?
