Root Nexus 7 and AOSP

Here are some quick notes about Nexus 7:

-Until the Jelly Bean source code becomes available in a few weeks,

it's not a suitable device for custom builds.

-To get into fastboot, hold the Power button for one second, release

it, and quickly press VolumeDown when the Google logo appears.

-When flashing via fastboot, run "fastboot erase" on each partition

before flashing that partition, as the bootloader doesn't do it
automatically.

-I'm hoping to make a factory image of the preview build available

after Google I/O.

-We already have the necessary licenses from NVIDIA and Broadcom for

AOSP Jelly Bean to run and access WiFi on Nexus 7, once it's released.

so that means they can get a soruce build from the n7s given out?

Hmm .. I'm not sure. The guy in the post above said source wouldn't be available for a few weeks. I'm not sure what they could do with the N7's they have.

No, until google releases the source separately, we'll be stuck with the SDK and ported versions of the n7 firmware. Neither of which are as good :(
