Nexus 7 as Car Computer

Hi All

We just imported a Mazda Atenza Wagon from Japan, this car has built in Navi but its in Japanese, so I am thinking about getting the old one ripped out and replaced with a android tablet.

I'm hoping the Nexus 7 will fit in the space, but I need to know the actual screen dimensions, not 7 inches, the actual width and height.

Also, does anyone know if there is away for to set the tablet so that it turns on when its provided power (via microUSB)?

Thanks

I guess using the N7 would be easier than learning Japanese ;)

One friend had a grey import that always showed his location as dockside in Japan :D

Re your question: do you mean the size of the screen unit once removed from the casing or the size of the casing (which I'm sure you can easily get with a google for the specs)?

The actual screen size, not the casing as the casing I'm hoping the shop can hide behind the mounting that is already there.

Have you tried contacting the Car's NAV System manufacturer? I'm betting that there are language settings hidden within that NAV system. It could be something like a system restore then select language.

BUT, nice idea about using the N7!

Yeah I've looked into it, apparently its a massive hassle and cost so yeah.

Plus I've been spoilt by using my phone all this time, I don't think i could settle for a standard GPS Navi unit anyway.

And then theres the music player/emails/xbmc etc lol.

So does anyway know the actual screen dimensions of the nexus 7 II? This is the most important part as if its not the same (or similar) it could be more work than its worth.
