Help Nexus 7 Bluetooth LE Enable

FarmerB

Lurker
Trying to get my Nexus 7 to connect to a Bluetooth LE device. I've installed Android 4.3 and the Nexus 7 device has the hardware.
When I go to setting>bluetooth (which is enabled), I see some devices, but not the LE device(s).
I have read on the net that Bluetooth LE or Smart or BLE ( by whatever name it is going by today) must be enabled. I have not seen any directions for said same.
As a side note, my iPhone was able to detect and connect to these devices.

Does anybody have suggestions?

FarmerB, Welcome to AF!

If your talking about the old Nexus 7:

Going by what I can look up, the N7 was never certified for Bluetooth 4.0 and LE is part of the 4.0 specification. So its not going to work just by upgrading to 4.3.

Supposedly, the N7's Broadcom BT chipset CAN support it. But its probably one of those things that will need to be hacked in if it is possible.

So for the short term, the answer is no. You can't use Bluetooth LE devices with the original N7 even with 4.3.
