Nexus 7 dead?

I've had my Nexus 7 for about 3 months and absolutely love it. I've been away a couple of days and have come back and it appears to have died

If i plug it into power outlet using original charger the screen turns on but is mainly black with occasional flashing pixels and it doesn't charge. I've tried the google recommended holding the power button fo a long time, also the volume button thingy and charging overnight. Nothing works.

If i plug it into pc, i get the same screen on with flashing pixels, but i can't see the Nexus from the pc.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

This was my exact problem. Took the back off, repositioned battery and connector and hooray, all working again. BTW the battery wasnt dead, was about 80% charged, jst loose connector
