Help Nexus 7 not working with a powered usb hub from amazon

Tpolchies

Lurker
I recently got this powered usb hub from Amazon.com:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DQFGH80/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_rE6Yvb9T20MQ3

And I'm also using this OTG cable to connect the powered usb hub to my nexus 7:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005GI2VMG/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_-G6YvbVQFABDN

Which I know works with the nexus 7, so I'm not sure if I just f-ed up and bought the wrong type of powered usb hub, or if there's still hope to make it work with both a wired keyboard and mouse I have. I have connected everything and it seems to just power my mouse, but not recognize it or something? And as for the keyboard, it does not even seem to be powered by the usb hub.

Curious so I googled around and found a few people over the last few years with your exact same complaint - solved by swapping for a different brand hub.

I have no idea how that works as usb is a very clear standard but that's what I found.

Yeah, seems like you need to install drivers, so i don't think it's going to work.

Did you see any brands that seemed to work better with android?
