Nexus 7 vs Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Do you think that the Nexus 7 is worth waiting for as opposed to just picking up a 7.0 now? 7.0 has a rear facing camera, a microsd card slot, and is out now.
Google Wallet wouldn't even work on the thing since there's no data connection (Yes, I would pay with it like at 7-11 :) )

So what do you think?

i got 7" tab 2. Not that bad.. personally don't care about rear facing camera. Still using built in storage. But i would like to get Nexus 7.

There's really no way to compare since the Nexus 7" isn't out yet. We have no idea if JB is going to be reliable or buggy. We don't know how well the hardware is going to run the OS or how well it'll support apps. Wait 'til it comes out and compare them.

ive seen the nexus 7 on the main site i dont like how its just a stretched galaxy nexus not a tablet UI like the gtab

I don't follow... did you click the link? They're nearly identical in size...

I meant to quote the person above you :) I know that they are similar in size. I just don't get the difference between phone UI and tablet UI. The ipad and ipod touch have basically the same UI, but that doesn't stop anybody.

Well, the down sides of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0:

Lower resolution screen, which is reported to be less responsive to touch, and not bright enough for outdoor viewing. There's a better processor on the Nexus, and Jelly Bean is being reported to be smooth and fast... So GT 2 looses on the OS as well.

The up side of the GT2 is the SD card slot, which is huge if you want to be able to load a lot of media and access is when you don't have a wi-fi connection.

But is the card slot alone enough to compensate for the shortfalls? Probably not for most people.

There may be a few of us that aren't happy being forced to the Google Collective, and resist assimilation. The rest will stream from the cloud in a wi-fi environment, and make do on internal storage when they aren't on wi-fi.

I think Google may have left Samsung an opening, here, though... If Sammy could revise the GT 2 by improving the screen and going to the quad-core processor, call it a "GT 2+", they would have the *perfect* 7" tablet. Then it would just be a question of price point.

I'd pay $50 more for my "perfect" 7" tab- Say, a Nexus 7, with SD slot, or a Samsung competitor. Could Samsung do that? Unfortunately, I think that might be tough for Samsung to match, since they don't have the Google Play revenue stream to rely on for profit.

It's a little unfortunate that the market is so fixated with the $200 price point. To me, $250 is a more meaningful thresh-hold, and I'd have happily paid that for a Nexus 7 with SD expansion capability. :-( Not to mention, that's what people will be paying anyway if they want decent internal storage...

<sigh> Whatever happened to Google's promise to "not be evil?" The Cloud is Coming... Prepare for Assimilation... Resistance is Futile...
