Well, the down sides of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0:
Lower resolution screen, which is reported to be less responsive to touch, and not bright enough for outdoor viewing. There's a better processor on the Nexus, and Jelly Bean is being reported to be smooth and fast... So GT 2 looses on the OS as well.
The up side of the GT2 is the SD card slot, which is huge if you want to be able to load a lot of media and access is when you don't have a wi-fi connection.
But is the card slot alone enough to compensate for the shortfalls? Probably not for most people.
There may be a few of us that aren't happy being forced to the Google Collective, and resist assimilation. The rest will stream from the cloud in a wi-fi environment, and make do on internal storage when they aren't on wi-fi.
I think Google may have left Samsung an opening, here, though... If Sammy could revise the GT 2 by improving the screen and going to the quad-core processor, call it a "GT 2+", they would have the *perfect* 7" tablet. Then it would just be a question of price point.
I'd pay $50 more for my "perfect" 7" tab- Say, a Nexus 7, with SD slot, or a Samsung competitor. Could Samsung do that? Unfortunately, I think that might be tough for Samsung to match, since they don't have the Google Play revenue stream to rely on for profit.
It's a little unfortunate that the market is so fixated with the $200 price point. To me, $250 is a more meaningful thresh-hold, and I'd have happily paid that for a Nexus 7 with SD expansion capability. :-( Not to mention, that's what people will be paying anyway if they want decent internal storage...
<sigh> Whatever happened to Google's promise to "not be evil?" The Cloud is Coming... Prepare for Assimilation... Resistance is Futile...
