Help nexus 7 wont boot after 12volt charger connected

hi guys

i have done a real dur thing and cut the usb plug off a lead and then fitted a 12volt plug to the red and black not thinking that the usb is 5 volt .. it ran for a while and then went off and now wont reboot at all . i have done the hold the power button in with both volume buttons held down etc but none of the methods work.i have even had the back off and disconnected the battery and tried booting with just the power lead (proper usb connection) plugged in and then with battery re connected but nothing ,have i killed my beloved nexus 7 ? ;-(

any ideas please

I'd have to weigh parts cost vs. tablet replacement costs, but I can tell you that if it were mine, I'd probably fix it.

Look for a cheap N7 with a broken screen on Craigslist or something. Probably cheaper than buying a new board.
 
well my new(reconditioned) mother board arrived from the usa and i fitted it. at first nothing happened and i thought i had wasted my time but i left it on charge all night and this morning it booted up ;-) ..

why would it need a full night on charge before it would do anything ? it never even flashed the battery symbol when i tried to power it up ,nothing .. weird..
 
When the battery is very dead, it won't have enough power to even fire on the screen. Sometimes, you'll just get the notification light flashing a few times.
