Im getting this phone when it is finally released,,

but does anyone feel like I do that the Google has failed with the marketing of this phone and operating system,

seems they announce these items... comming soon,,, then nothing,,

there is one thing apple wins at,, they announce product and date and make it happening,,,

dont get me wrong im a huge droid fan,,, but google has alot to learn

To be honest, I think Google has always been somewhat lax on marketing Nexus line of phones. The first one they tried to do all online at first and on their own. Then the second one wasn't really marketed heavily until sprint got it.

It seems they don't go all out marketing their nexus line because they don't want to take away other OEMs sales numbers. Even though Samsung made this and the Nexus S, they would much rather you buy a Touch Wizard phone. Either way, I don't see a ton of main stream advertising being thrown into this phone. Verizon has the Rezound and RAZR to push heavily. I could always be wrong though!

Yep. Google has always considered the Nexus line a "dev" or "geek" phone. It's no surprise that marketing isn't heavier for it.

Alot of blame has to be placed on Google and Samsung...

They haven't a clue on how to do a successful release...

Apple is the king with stuff like this!

Hopefully Google and Sammy have been taking notes...lol

you're right... I'm sure sales of the gnex will be pretty good but they could have been potentially GREAT with better marketing...

i think the blame is google and samsung. They are competing against apple.. but then theres alot of factors. IS the phone ready? or are they having issues with the radio? Which sucks the waiting

The reason Google doesn't advertise the Nexus line as much is because it is not meant to be easy for everyone to use, like a phone with HTC Sense or MotoBlur. The reason the Nexus gets more updates is because it is made to make sure Android does the things Google wants it to do, then if everything is going as planned, HTC and Motorola and Samsung take everything Google has learned and they apply it to the phones that people buy so they don't have to freak out about everything.

What makes it even harder is P3Droid constantly twittering about his GNex! Don't hate on him though guys. He's just as excited as we would be if we had the phone already. ROFL at him going to a Verizon store to buy a case for it and them asking "why do you want to buy a case for a phone you don't even own yet", and then him whipping it out and showing them...Haha. I'm sure we will get some great Kernals from him!

Lmaooo...that's priceless!!!

Verizon cares more about the razr and the rezound than then gnex. They don't want the gnex to steal sales from the razr which have already had a couple commercials out for it. If Verizon wanted to push the gnex, they could, but that was never the plan

Im pretty sure we wont see anything from P3Droid once the phone is announced. Hes not a dev and the only attention he can get for himself is through leaks. Hes having his fun now because once the phone is released he won't be the center of attention anymore. Maybe he can provide the world with Droid Charge and Bionic leaks.

I'm just upset that there is nothing about the phone and the OS beyond the announcement. Going to Google.com/Nexus doesn't really give much more beyond that. And isn't the phone being released in less than 10 days in the UK? Shouldn't some tech blogs have units to review, and reviews to go out at least on that side of the world? Nada.

Also, I think Verizon got a little more than it can chew at once. With the 4S, the Rezound, the Razr and the Galaxy Nexus, that's a lot of phones to release and after all Verizon is a business, they want to ensure each release is as profitable as can be. Patience.

I beg to differ. He made some great Kernels for the D1.
