Nexus One: Android 2.2.1 OTA

Still no OTA update for me. Ill wait this one out as it doesnt seem to be that big of an important update.

Me neither. If Apple can roll out a new OS to millions of iPhone users, you'd thing Google could manage a few Nexus updates!

(ok, I'm sure the excuse is that they are ensuring it doesn't cause issues, but it's still annoying!)

I have followed directions exactly as given (several times now) and I continue to receive the following error message when trying to root the 2.2.1 update...

Failed to Open/sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E; signature verification failed
Installation aborted

Any ideas? The update file is there and is the correct file and is named "update.zip" . I have a 16gb high quality card...

What could cause this problem?

I recall having the same problem when the FRF91 came out. I hope some expert can chime in but I think somehow the system is seeing the file as update.zip.zip or something. I don't recall if I used Astro and tried renaming it update. or just tried re-entering it update.zip

Sorry I can't be of any solid help here, I wish I could remember more:(

Rusty, why do we have to wait for Vodafone? I thought with the nexus they pretty much left alone and didn't contaminate it with their crap - hence my purchase. I've got froyo out the box and no vodaphone stufff on it at all - so far anyway!
Because although they don't stuff their crap on it, they do modify it from the original version, not in anyway noticeable really, but it causes a delay. It was at least 3 weeks before they let FRF91 out.

Do you have stock recovery? Did you get your phone from the Google webstore, or from Vodafone?

Did you place the update.zip in a folder on the sd card? The phone will not recognize the update unless its in the root of the sd card

this.
If you are using Windows, it's probable that you've got "Hide Extensions" activated, so you just see "Update". If you add .zip, then for the system is "update.zip.zip"
It DOES word installing it from the SD card

I just got the 2.1.1 update prompt on my N1 as of this hour, in PA on AT&T.

Were there any official release notes from Google? I couldn't find any online, so I was reluctant to run the update not knowing what it was for.

Woah! Been out all weekend and quickly read this thread Friday but didn't really think much of it. Left my phone at home today. So when i came home found the update waitingf for me :) * yay*
