Nexus One users, how is your touchscreen?

Mine works well most of the time but can be annoying too, when it gets sand up its fanny and throws a wobbly.. 99% of the time it is not an issue at all, and I absolutely love this phone, but I do wish that it wasn't an issue at all!... I'm not a hardcore gamer in the slightest, but I would love to be able to play a polished version of Street Fighter (like the iphone has) on my nexus, but it doesn't look like that is possible, and I would imagine the htc/google screen issues will put off game developers making iphone rivaling games..

It will for the N1 and Desire. The Droid Incredible and EVO uses a different sensor; I'm assuming the same can be said with the Galaxy S, Droid 2, Nexus Two, and so on.

Don't know what the problem is caused by but when I wake my phone up the touch screen is totally unresponsive. Or it registers an inch below where I touch the unlock dots.

mine has acted crazy 2 times, but just put it too sleep and rewake it, then it was fine, but since I have Rooted and installed CYanmod 5.0.6 no more crazy screen and it works flawless, color trackball and other cool features:D

My touch screen flakes out almost daily, requiring a reboot. However, I'm not sure my issues are the same as the one in the video linked above. But for me, it'll stop recognizing touch on the bottom row of icons, making it impossible to select one of those apps. Instead, it'll either think I pushed one of the hard buttons below it, or thinks I pressed the Home icon or the area on either side of it. This doesn't clear up until I do a full powercycle on the device, which is really annoying.
I experience the same problems you describe.
I have noticed it seems to happen more when the phone is hot, like after being in a charger (or while it's on the charger).
Some times the buttons and touch screen are completely unresponsive. Reboot fixes it (today the simple power-off reboot wouldn't take- it wouldn't recognize any touch screen input).

The touch screen could be better. Most of the time it works well, but there have been a few times where the screen would think I was pressing in a completely different section of the screen, making texting impossible, or even using the phone impossible. One time it got so bad, I learned by accident what the trackball is for.....scrolling through all the linkable buttons on the screen.

It's never required a reboot or anything like that, usually about 15 seconds later it would start working normally but it can be irritating.

I am very happy with my purchase, but I really hope when it comes time to buy a new phone there is a model I want that does touching better.

You know the old saying "If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to hear it, does it make a sound?" For many, dare I say most, the multitouch issue with the N1 is the same kind of thing. I've had my phone going on 3 months now and it fails the MT test app that's out there but I wouldn't have known it otherwise. It works for everything I do perfectly.

Having said that, the regular touch sometimes lags and becomes unresponsive for me. I occasionally have to wait a sec or typically I hit the power button to lock the phone then immediately unlock it. It's a pain I suppose but only takes 2 seconds. This isn't all that frequent however.

I really didn't have any problems until I started using it while it was on a charger. I like to have the screen legible when playing music, to see song data. The charger keeps the screen on.
Is there a native setting on the Nexus One to keep the screen on, or do I have to install an app? Of course this brings up battery issues, which is why I was using the charger to begin with.
Or is there a way to keep the screen from locking after it goes into screensaver mode? If I could set it up to just tap it rather than sliding the unlock icon, that may save me from an accident while driving.
But none of that would solve the main problem of screen unresponsiveness when on a charger.

My first N1's screen bugged out all the time. It also was very hot with 3G use. I ended up selling it but I missed it so much I bought another one.

This one has not had one screen feakout at all, and it is never gotten hot with use. It has been perfect. Weird?..

I don't have an n1... but, I want to go back to that "if a tree falls in the woods" comment..

I think that is a pretty good point honestly.. Sure if "3d games requiring multitouch" come out it may be a problem..

However.. I would like to take a second and remind myself its a phone.. Sure gaming is great.. but, I am getting it for email for school, web access anywhere, Some light gaming (robo defense).

What I am not getting it for to be a nintendo ds..

If there are multitouch issues.. that is fine.. Let them be multitouch issues you really have a problem with! let it be because YOUR screen is giving problems..

Not because you can't preform some insane hand gesture with three fingers.. (how would you see the screen?)

Unless you are a gamer...you'll be fine. Gameboid is kind of weird on the nexus one, however I'm hoping for a better fix in 2.2 I think it's possible to fix, but no one is going to.
