Nexus One vs iPhone 4!!!!

depends what you want, i got mine sim free for around $230 less than the iphone is sim free.. also i like to be able to do lots with my phone personalizing it and making it how i want, as for the iphone the only personalizing you can do is change the wallpaper of the app menu which seems a bit dated right? and just flickin through the menu seems too boring for me.. i wud get bored of it so fast, my sister has 3GS and i had a htc diamond before my nexus and wouldn't of swapped than for her 3GS. finnaly the app store is apples biggest feature yet it sucks so bad, controlling what apps can be released and adding the prices on them all is rediculous, already android has more free apps than apple despite having nowhere near as many apps.. which will change since so many phones now are rocking out android google did this specifically to make their market bigger than apples without having to sell as many of their own phones.. i get all my "paid" apps for free on my nexus and i know that wouldn't be the case on an iphone and gets all googles bonus features and they even replaced my rooted phone due to htc refusing too despite it being a stock fault that many people experienced with the gap between bezel and backplate.. oh and as for the front facing camera i would love it on nexus but without 3G support their video calling is pointless.

He's as big a dick as Jobs in my opinion.

I think he's worst...at least with Jobs...he TELLS you things...with zuckerberg he just does it and when you complain he goes, 'sorry...I'll change it back'...like if people didn't notice that with one of his updates, he resetted some of your FB setting to make it easier for ads to profile you

You're right. At least Jobs gives you all of the BS pre-product (magical, Face Time, Retina Display...)

iphone is like Honda: a pedestrian, one size fits all business model to make simple cars for folks who just go back and forth to work. Android is more like a V8 engine. It is so versatile and customizable that it is used in pedestrian cars, hot rods, police interceptors and race cars. I can't be too far off the mark since every mobile phone manufacturer on the planet either has an Android phone or one in the works....except Apple. ;)

Or Research in Motion.

Lol an iphone over the Nexus!?!?!? LOLOLOLOLOOPLOLOLLLOLLOLLLOLOLOL

Go get one and enjoy ;)!!

Haha agreed!
It look good.
If that's your only criterium then the iPhone is your perfect match :p

If the Nexus One and iPhone4 were transformed into mini-fighting robots, the Nexus One would win.

By default! Surely full-fledged multitasking is an enormous advantage in phone-to-phone combat :D

Im sure his experience might not be the norm but a friend of mine purchased the iPhone 4 upon it's release and he's having a hell of a time with it. Bricked 3 phones during the simple 'update' process and to this day, he's having constant Bluetooth problems. It's his 2nd or 3rd iPhone and he strongly regrets purchasing the 4 now.

He could take some awesome video/photo's of his son but as a phone......it's driving him bat sh!t!:o

I love my nexus one.. rooted or unrooted it still more customizable then the iphone 4. My cousin has the iphone 4, and I can not lie, it is a sweet phone. We did a little bit of a contest between my phone and his. The iPhone screen IS clearer but the nexus one has better colors. The cameras were about the same, but I think my pics looked better cause the better colors but thats the screen and video I give to the iphone cause my nexus one is not rooted and I dont have 720p. Nexus one seemed faster with things, but its not a big difference. Facetime is sweet but its limited, with is the issue with the iPhone. You can only use it on wifi with other iphone 4 users. Get an android phone with a front facing camera and you can use it with anyone, even if they are on a computer.

Nexus one vs iPhone 4 is close, but I say nexus one.

Android vs. apple.. no contest. Android is the best.

If they were superheroes, the Nexus One would be Batman. It's dark and somewhat neurotic, has loads of toys and a cool utility belt, but sometimes gets tripped up on its own cape. The iPhone 4 would be Aquaman ... technically a superhero but limited to its own ocean and only able to defeat villains that enter into its space. Nice suit, though.

If they were athletes, the Nexus One would be Michael Jordan. It's good at many things but only great at a few, although it's willing to try anything. The iPhone 4 would be Tiger Woods -- A pretty boy that's best on its own turf. It pretends to be perfect but often gets caught with his pants down.

If they were cartoon characters, the Nexus One would be Bender Rodriquez and the iPhone 4 would be Lois Griffin ... you figure it out ;)

Hahahah :D Nice comparisons btw!

This reminds me of some cool bootloader images I saw of bender, should be just the thing for you, hehe :p

Lol, great stuff man, I particularly loved the superhero analogy!:D

Don't know about Tiger being a "Pretty Boy".......but then again, his portfolio must make him downright gorgeous!:D

I personally think that the iPhone's camera is a lot better then the N1's. My father and I took pictures side by side and the iPhone was able to pick up more detail in the areas that were dark. I also believe the iPhones pictures look a lot more vivid, which is probably just a result of the post processing, but it does look good. The iMovie on the iPhone also makes a huge difference when it comes to video. Editing on demand is a lot of fun and allows you to create some really fun videos. Google or a 3rd party definitely needs to develop something along those lines.

One of the biggest advantages to the N1 and android in general is widgets (for me anyway). Once I unlock my screen I can see updates on my facebook, check the weather 2 days out, and see the latest news on engadget without ever opening a program. Android conveys information a lot faster then the iPhone. With Launcherpro I am also able to have my favorite contacts on one screen and my bookmarks are easily to get too.

On a humorous note, I get into some good fights with my father about which OS is better and everytime I bring up the antenna issue he claims there is no issue and it was made it...funny stuff.

The N1 is a good device but I'll be switching to the iPhone. Service on my N1 blows comparatively and the OS is too jerky. I've gone through two devices and ready to switch.

lololol.....go iphone 4 should be much easier for you to operate....

I be gone through iphones to symbians to god knows and never have i come accross a phone which i think ill keep till it breaks.....

To have this phone you gotta root to cyanogen which gives you 720 camera etc.....but hey that might be way to complcated for you ;)

Hi guys. I have been a nexus one user from the past 2 months. Just love the experience.

Could someone just list out in this thread the advantages of android os over the iphone os4? Would like to clearly understand the android platform, hence i ask for this..

A very interesting link shamming the android os?
Android Is As Open As The Clenched Fist I’d Like To Punch The Carriers With
Anyone care to explain this gentlemen's rant against carrier provider being the fly in the ointment for android users?

For your first question I prefer Android over iOS for the following reasons:

Customisation
The way notifications work
Choice of handset
I just don't like the look and feel of iOS4 (I have an iPod Touch too).

The second part refers to bloatware added by phone carriers as well as features being removed by phone carriers. This can then be locked down so that you cannot change it (without root).

For example, carriers can change certain apps if they have a deal with another provider - see the Bing vs Google browser argument (on one of the US Samsung handsets I believe). This means that one of the carriers can put Bing on the phone and lock it in so that you cannot use Google's browser (on a Google phone!!!).

The other example is where carriers take features out to suit what they want you to be able to do. The most obvious example is the Wi-Fi tethering feature in Froyo. The carriers don't want the user to have the potential to use excessive data so the take the feature out. Again this cannot be added without root.

There are many more examples, for instance some would say that including Amazon Music in the N1 is bloatware as it cannot be removed (again, can be by rooting and using Titanium to uninstall).

Hope this helps.
