Nexus performing slow

slanch

Newbie
So recently I've noticed that my Nexus has been running significantly slower than previously; opening an app results in a long wait period for example, and booting up takes an inordinately long time (longer since i got jelly bean)

Now, obviously, a year later I don't expect it to be out-of-the-box fast but this is still disconcerting and confusing.

I have about 120 apps on my phone and am running an unrooted Verizon Nexus. Does anyone have any suggestions on a) how i can look to see if my phone is slowing down, B) how to address this?

Hmm.. not sure how you can actually see that your phone is running slow, but a surefire way to fix it would be a factory reset. I did one and it's 'out of the box' fast.. Improvement on battery life too.

I suppose you could always monitor your Running Apps list and make sure a program isn't chewing up all your RAM.

120 apps sounds a bit excessive. But either way, I would do a factory reset, as I will guarantee it will be much faster afterwards. Just back up everything you need before you do so.

Yeah, I would recommend a cache cleaning app and/or the app "Fast Reboot". It resets your apps as if you rebooted your phone, without actually rebooting.

I would try it before the factory reset.
