Nexus S 2.3.3 Software on the Epic??

Ok so froyo came and was pulled recently. I have it running great on my epic, great! GOOD! But, just now a gingerbread update was released for NEXUS S users. We all know a NEXUS S is basically a samsung galaxy variant. So why wouldnt this upgrade work for our phones? Discuss! Thanks!

CDMA vs. GSM is probably reason number one. Outside that, I don't have a lot of knowledge around the area.
