Help Nexus s noob

[bridd1]

Morning all,

Having just switched to android from my iphone, i am just needing a little info on customisation.

Is it possible to alter the icons on the home screen ( ie phone, apps and web) to something else , or do i need to install something like launcherPro to do it?

I am sure i read about how to do it somewhere but i cant find the info now!

Thanks in advance

You should check out Desktop Visualizer. It allows you to choose any picture/icon to replace a standard icon. It also allows you to alter the sizing of the created icons.

Otherwise, Launcher Pro and the new ADW Launcher EX can help with customisation like this. You can change the dock and icons for example.

All available in Market.

Is it not possible to alter them without using another program, ie alter them in the settings??

Not that I'm aware of without root access.

Check out the all things root section here or have a look on XDA Developers and Cyanogen to learn more about rooting, custom ROMs etc.
