Help Nexus S rebooting?

MartinS

Apparently this is a bit of a problem. Nexus S rebooting during important phone calls etc.

Google admits Nexus S reboot problem

Google Nexus S Complaints Grow, Android Gingerbread To Blame?

Mine has done this once - and it happened to be during a very important call!

It doesn't seem to have come up on here as one of the major complaints so I wondered if any one else had seen this and if it was causing problems.

In addition, I would say that most of my calls are over three minutes long.

I had this happen the other day - on my Nexus One - running stock 2.2.1?

Maybe not a Nexus S/Gingerbread only issue?? Or was I just unlucky??

(Lurking in here as I'm contemplating a Nexus S to replace the Nexus One, battery life is the main driver as N1 is pretty poor for me, and horrific in certain situations)

How does the Nexus know if it's an important phone call or not? ;)

I've never had this happen, although admittedly I've only had my phone a few days. I also read a bit about this on one of the tech sites (can't remember which one) and they said that they couldn't reproduce the problem on two of their Nexus S phones. Looks like it's relatively rare.

It's enough of a known issue for Google and Samsung to be looking at it though so I'm sure they'll have a fix soon.

If it helps with your decision making my NS has been running on battery for 26.5hrs now, screen brightness on full and every widget/fb/email updating as often as possible. Still 25% left in the tank;)

*Sorry to go off-topic. I haven't experienced this problem either. Looks like a patch is on the way so hopefully it won't remain an issue for much longer.

I'll second the battery improvement. The NS is FAR better than the N1 in this respect.

Stock Android is also a lot smoother - although more difficult to compare 2.3 with 2.2...

Similar issue. I'm using LockedNFound and the phone locks; the only way for that to happen is if the SIM card is replaced.

I've had this happen 4 times now(twice in one day)...only recently though.
Personally, coming from the HTC desire,I'm not sure that buying the Nexus S was one of my greatest ideas. The only "real" benefits for me is the battery life and the internal space to load apps.
It's a case of if i had known then, what i know now...i would've kept my phone and bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab for myself...bought the wife one for christmas and its great.

it happened to me twice last week while I was on a phone call twice. the first time it rebooted, the second time my call disconnected and there wasn't any mobile connection (showing gray bars instead of green)

3 times in a half our call(s) today. Not impressed.

I shouldn't have opened my mouth and told you all that it had only happened once...

None of you should have opened your mouths.......Every time I'm on a call now I keep tentatively waiting for it to reboot :p

Hasn't happened yet, fortunately (touch wood) Hope they have a fix soon.

Bought Nexus us on Dec 19. Since last one week I have noticed the reboot couple of times automatically - but not during a call just like that.

Also some times it shows. Foreclosing app popup window - is that normal ?

I've had it happen to me three times this past week since I purchased it on release day. I've only noticed it happening after the latest 2.3.2 update.

I've had this quite a number of times, typically on a call and it certainly affects the longer calls more. A quick chat with a mate will be fine but an extended conversation with family tends to result in a reboot midway through the call.

Frustrating.

Shame as I'm still really loving this phone... every time I pick up the wife's SGS I am just shocked at the difference that the Google engineers can make to this hunk of hardware compared to the idiots at Samsung.

It seems to happen in waves. The phone won't reboot for a couple of weeks then there will be a point when it will happen on a call and then reboot over and over.

I've not yet experienced cycling boot issues but today I had my first reboot outside of the phone function. Whilst listening to Spotify it crashed, the audio switched to a glitchy brrrrrr sound then the phone rebooted.

Not end of the world yet but ifit continues beyond the next update I'll be upset.

This has happened to be about 3 times when I have long conversations!

happened just now when I was sending a text message

This is really pissing me off, It need to be fixed like NOW!!
