Newbie
Hi everybody
I live in Kuwait and had my nexus s shipped from the states.
problem is when i received and first booted it i have some unresponsive screen issues.
When i first turn the lock off the screen works but only when pushing on the sides. in the middle it doesn't work
For EX. when typing an SMS the middle keys wont work.
Also cant access the menu
i had it formatted many times but no use.
I tried a different launcher with no luck

When i clear cache from launcher in running services it helps but no luck.
I cant have it shipped back to best buy so im hoping someone here can help me?

Sounds like a hardware fault unfortunately.

If you really can't send it back to where you got it maybe you should e-mail Samsung or/and Google and explain everything. See what they say.

Hi izzyq8,

My first post here, I have a very similar problem and also, my Nexus S was shipped from US (I live in Brazil). With me is a little bit different, the problem is sporadic and unpredictable. Maybe 5 times day and not only typing, but doing anything on the phone (like gaming) can make some areas of the screen unresponsible. The only fix I know is lock/unlock the screen, immediately its fixed after unlock but is very annoying. I hope and think this is a software issue, cause if it was hardware shouldn't fix with a simple lock/unlock.

I tried format, root, back to stock other ROMs (CM7 and Trinity) and the problem happens again. Maybe cause the custom ROM's is made also from one problematic source ROM (I really don't know how to explain) but I somehow refuse to accept the possibility of a faulty hardware. I can't ship the phone back.

Maybe one fix will come with Android 2.4, maybe never... who knows.
