Help NEXUS S text input problem

Since 4.1.1 have a problem entering text message. Whenever space is entered or backspace, the keyboard dissapears for many seconds. pressing entry box does not bring the keyboard back. Eventually it returns and keying continues until space or backspace, then it disappears again. Sometimes same problem after entering first character of a word. Also, predetermined words are not appearing above text box. Any ideas to correct this?

Nexus S text input problem--UPDATE

Problem solved. I had downloaded Google Talk, and the keyboard option was set to Google. Changed the option back to Android and the problem went away. Entering text messages is now restored to full functionality.
