Help NFC activation error

I've only just recently updated my I9020 Nexus S onto android 2.3.3. Since the update NFC wont enable.

Whenever i go into Wireless & network settings and try to turn NFC on it comes back with the message 'An error occurred'.

Anyone else have this error or know how to solve it? NFC worked fine before the update and there are no other problems on the phone.

I have this error as well.
I had turned it off initially and can no longer reactivate it.

NFC is on for my wife's Nexus S, but she won't let turn it off to check

I've tried the suggestions from other forums of taking the battery out for a bit and letting the circuit de-charge. Two attempts, one for one minute and another for 10 minutes.

I've also tried letting the battery die and still cannot re-activate it.

Tapping NFC in the menu just results in "An error has occurred" and after some obsessive tapping, the register colour goes grey from the orange.
