Thanks for posting this! I've put up a couple of NFC tags and I've had some challenges with the phone recognizing when I'm tapping it and I'd have to tap in many different areas to catch it. The first time I did it at the top of the camera, on the "T" is what I call it, it recognized it instantly. Good stuff.

That makes sense since the NFC antenna is around the camera lens. BTW, I was just able to transfer a picture and open play store on my wife's S3 from my One. However, it wouldn't connect a few times when I tapped the phones together.

Question about NFC Tags
If I place one in my car that enables Bluetooth, do I have to actually touch my phone to the tag to enable Bluetooth. What about when I leave my car.. does Bluetooth automatically turn off?
I recently got an 09 Pontiac g5 and wanted to run everything through my HTC One but it doesn't Bluetooth the audio .. just the calls. So I think I'll buy a 32gb iPod touch for my music (since it has an iPod usb connection that allows steering wheel controls to switch songs) and then I'd just like to setup my HTC to go to Bluetooth when I jump in and disable when I get out..
Wondering what my best options are ...

I actually have a 07 Nissan Altima and use the AUX jack to use this for my bluetooth connection:
GOgroove SMARTmini AUX Bluetooth Car Kit
It works very well, but the only thing is that you have to cut it on everytime you get in the car. But it streams music and phone calls well. So, whenever I get into my car, I tap my phone on the NFC tag(cut on bluetooth, cut off wifi, cut on sound) and push the button on the Gogroove and we're good to go.
Also, you can set the NFC tag to toggle to cut on and off everytime you touch it. I personally just have it cut on everytime I touch it. But the GoGroove cuts off when it doesn't detect a bluetooth connection, so you don't have to worry about that. Hope this helps.
I have an HTC One (Sprint) and my gf has a Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T). We are able to beam things to each other. Websites work seamlessly. Beaming images is a little different. You both need to be on WiFi for beaming to work and the Galaxy needs to turn S Beam off for it to work. I'm not entire sure how S Beam is beneficial for Samsung devices but for HTC and Samsung phones to sync up, S Beam needs to be off it seems.

When I transferred a picture to my wife's s3 from my one, we were both on the Sprint network, her sbeam was on, and it worked just fine.

Wifi has to be on while you beam files? I have been trying this with my mate's s3 somehow it didn't work, can you please tell the process?

I have a one and an s4 for work. I can send pics via NFC from my one to the s4. But when I try to send one from the s4 to the One...it brings the one to the play store then says retry. Weird that it works from the One to the s4 but not the s4 to the One
Is anyone else having problems reading and writing NFC tags?
I created some when I had my One X and they worked fine, now I cant read or write tags at all using the One.
Beam seems to work - I transferred a pic from my GF`s One X to my One, so I think the NFC chip itself is working?
I have Tagstand Writer and NFC Task Launcher from the Play store, neither seem to work.

Strangely enough, I got the OTA update the other day, and now the NFC is working.
I created some when I had my One X and they worked fine, now I cant read or write tags at all using the One.

What DOES happen, is after the phones are held together, I get the telltale vibration and the ensuing screen that shrinks slightly and requests "Touch to Beam". What will happen is that on the receiving phone, the gallery will open but no video will come through.
If I try to send a song, I do the same thing and his Music app will open but no song will transfer.
Meanwhile, I'll get a NFC song sent to me from a Note 2 or S3 without any problems, but when I try to send something to them, their Google PLay Store opens and gives them an "App not found" error.
Pictures work fine. I can send and receive photos by NFC with zero problems.
Any ideas?

I tried using Google Wallet for the first time at a CVS pharmacy and the POS terminal never acknowledged my phone. NFC was on and I had my PIN entered and everything was ready to go as the instructions said but nothing happened.
Later that night I used my girlfriend's Nexus 4 to see if my phone is faulty. I took both our phones out of their cases and put the One's antenna right against the N4's antenna. I turned on her NFC and Android Beam. I had my gallery open and selected an image. Again, nothing happened.
I'm thinking it might be the magnetic ring that I have adhered around the camera for the photo lenses I bought. The NFC chip is attached to the camera's lens, so I'll take it off and try with another NFC device after work.
Other forums have said that they have similar issues.
Any other suggestions/tips?

I just wanted to hear "oh no, that's bogus. The ring wouldn't cause any problems. Your phone is a dud, you should unroot/relock your phone and send it back blahblahblach" or "I think you may have fried your NFC chip by putting a dang magnet around it you pretty much ruined your phone way to go blahblahblah"
I suppose I'll give it another go when I get the time. I didn't realize this forum was already up, sorry!

I've also been experimenting with Android Beam, in this case, with an HTC One and a Galaxy S III, both on VZW and both running Android 4.3, the secret with the One is that the "prompt for allowing NFC handovers" option must be unchecked, or else nothing happens. On the S III, just turn on NFC and turn S Beam off, and they can both share content to each other flawlessly without any special apps or any rooting.
