nfc chip? or what?

I hadn't realized until right now when I took the back cover off that something is in the back cover, with two little plates at the top that touch the phone. I got excited for a moment and thought wireless charging, then I thought, maybe it's the nfc chip. Anyone know?

I don't use NFC that much. Its useful don't get me wrong but for select things. Sending a YouTube video or info for an app so you can be directed to the play store is all I've really been able to do. I wish you could send pictures and vids via NFC like the S3 :( or S4, that would be amazing!!!

You can disable NFC in the settings menu, which I did since I don't have any use for it. Any idea how much battery it consumes?

I already use nfc on my device for Google wallet, I just didn't knew that, that was the nfc chip or where it was located.

Well I almost feel ripped off if I can't send a picture. The wife S4 wont send me a pic even because it says the file is to large for my device. Grrrr
