NFC in SIM Cards

I've been reading a lot about this idae of NFC in SIM cards. will this work on all devices. im looking to buy a rezound and the only major thing i see that the nexus will offer that the rezound will not is NFC.
if NFC on SIM becomes popular will people be able to upgrade to it without getting a new phone?

NFC will not be a software only module - you'll need the appropriate hardware in the phone itself in order to use NFC.

In order to find out if the phone actually has the hardware, you'll need to refer to either the OEMs hardware manufacturing specs, or else look at a teardown video / pics, from sites like iFixIt.com.

I suggest that you go take a look at these forums for more information on the Rezound:

The Galaxy Nexus, or whatever the name is this week, will have the NFC chip in the battery, from what I have read... Not sure if there needs to be some sort of interaction in the phone itself, or not. My guess, yes...

i understand that. the point of the post is that the hardware for NFC will now be available in SIM cards

If it's available in a SIM card, what about all the Verizon phones that don't use SIMs?

Don't all the new 4G phones require a SIM card? If so, I'm sure at some point, if at all possible, Verizon would gladly sell you an NFC SIM card...more money for them... But, my guess is if it is not equipped out of the box with NFC, you will not be able to use it.

yeah thts wht im trying to figure out. cuz that would mean all 4g phones will be NFC compatible. sounds great but unlikely, if so im sure verizon would find a way do rip more cash out of our pockets
