Hi all,
As I've mentioned on here, I'm in love with my new Note 2 and tonight I convinced my wife to get an S3 (the note was too large for her) but she really liked the Samsung experience of my phone. Well, now that we are both using phones that have NFC, how exactly do we two to transfer pics or playlists...etc? I've actually googled this and didn't find a simple answer, or at least one that worked, so I'm turning to you. And yes, we do have the option turned on on both devices. Thanks.
 
For sbeam you just have to make sure both phones are unlocked and whatever you want to xfer needs to be active on one phone. With the N2 and S3 its a little more tricky since NFC is in the S3 battery and the N2 on the case. When you put the phones together they should vibrate and give you on screen instructions.
 
Pictures usually take around 10-20 seconds and videos are taking 45-60 seconds. Music is also taking around 10-20 seconds. I don't know if there is a data limit, but I tried sending a movie last night and it did not work.
 
I sent a whole album's worth of mp3s pretty quickly, probably was between 50mb and 80mb and took less than a minute. It was awhile ago so I can't remember the exact details. Very handy though.
 
We have the OEM bookcover cases on our Note 2's and have a difficult time using NFC. We've made it work a couple times but other times when we've touched the back of the phones, nothing happens. I dunno if we're dong it wrong or this feature is just hit and miss.
 
The battery must be NFC enabled. I had a Homer Simpson moment when I was dealing with a mysterious intermittent NFC failure until I realized that my clone backup batteries were not NFC enabled while the oem samsung batteries were. Believe it or not, the battery type matters for NFC. Hope this helps.

We have oem batteries. Our phone's are only about a week old.

The NFC chip is in the back cover on the Note 2. I'm pretty sure the battery has nothing to do with NFC (but I'm not 100%). I have 2 3rd party batteries and NFC works fine with both of them.
 
Net: some clone batteries are NFC enabled. I had the bad luck to buy backup batteries before I started using NFC. Amazon.com indicates NFC or lack thereof on the gn2 batteries. Im not sure about other phone but the samsung galaxy note 2 definitely needs an NFC enabled battery to have NFC work.
