Root No 3g after installing roms

I am pretty new to rooting and flashing roms on my Evo 4g. I rooted it without any problems, but when i flash a custom rom the 3g is gone. I only get 1x no matter what rom i have installed. any help/guidance to fixing this will be appreciated.

What rom did you flash?
Custom roms usually indicate the true signal vs. Sprint's "lie" about signal strength.
Are you having any issues with receiving/sending calls/text/surfing?
Do you get the 3g icon at all no matter where you go?

Yep as Mike said most of the custom roms will tell you if you have a true 3G conection or a 1x conection. The stock rom shows 3 G no matter what unless you conect to 4G or have no conection at all.

I'm always surprised at how much Sprint locked down/manipulated even the basics of your phones!
Our carrier in Japan, kddi au, at least gave us true signal type (1x/3g/wx), and the 4 bar meter. Also is the setup menu the option to turn on wifi before using 3g data. Strange. Also don't have that gps reticle stuck in the status bar

I know right? That's another reason I rooted....to break some bonds of Sprint.

right now i have Mikg v3.11 flashed on my evo. I have went around town and i havent seen 3g show up at all.

i dont know if its my imagination, but it seems so much slower now.
**no problems with texts/calls. just surfing seems slow.

Where are you located at? Im in the chicago area and have 4G most of the time I only see 1x when i get about 40 mi out of the suburban areas Basicly in farm land

i live in the phoenix area and work in tempe. we get 4g in tempe and that works fine.

Meh, could be your imagination now that you see the 1x signal.
Run with it a few days and see. Just imagine if it gave you a 5g signal indication, then you might think your phone is super fast!

As you're rooted you could try a script that attempts to boost your 3g signal. It might work.
Or else updating your radios?

3G Signal boost script by zepplinrox

Before using anything read over the OP to make sure of everything. I've never used MikG roms so I don't know if any of the tweaks would conflict with the 3G script. I don't think that it would.

Also with the radios compare to the versions you have now as you might be up to date and it won't be necessary to update
