Help no 3g service?

Well I activated my thunderbolt, but I cannot get 3g service(do not live in 4g area). I have pulled the battery a few times, but still nada

what else can I do here?
 
If you're in a area that normally has 3G, I'd call VZW and have them check that the SIM card is assigned to the proper phone/line on your account.

I already tried that. the guy said that the sim card was activated on my phone.

I'm gonna drive to town in a few hours to see if maybe the thunderbolt just gets bad reception. if it doesn't pick it up in town I'm gonna stop by the verizon store
