Help No 3G

My phone was working fine when i got it and i have a data plan and i know it works because i've used it before. Lately it wont work when i try to turn it on and im wondering why. I have AT&T and to turn it on and off i would enter *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone information and go to the menu and turn it on. I dont want to have to reset my phone because i dont want to lose my apps. How can i get my 3G working?

I lost my 3g yesterday and it still has not returned. When I called AT&T customer service yesterday I was told that a lot of towers in the area were 'down' because of the heavy rain and flooding in NJ on Sunday, and this was why there was no 3g signal. Any one else with the same issue?

Ok, figured out my problem. When you hold down the power button, one of the options is 'data network mode'. This was turned off. I turned it back on and 3G signal was back. Maybe this is new with 2.2?
